Joshua Filer is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist based in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Influenced by artists such as Bob Marley, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and a wide range of jazz, blues, rock, reggae, and country musicians, Joshua has spent decades developing a style shaped by many different genres while maintaining a sound distinctly his own.

Inspired from a young age to write and perform music, Joshua has been performing, writing, and recording with various Phoenix-area bands since the early 2000s. He has released several albums through different projects, including a solo album in 2019, with his most recent singles released in 2024 and 2025 and available across major streaming and social media platforms. Over the course of his career, Joshua has written or co-written more than 100 songs—and he continues to write, record, and develop new material.

Known for his strong, soulful vocals, Joshua has continued to develop his voice through classical bel canto–based vocal training, bringing greater range, control, resonance, and dynamics to a vocal style rooted in rock, blues, soul, reggae, and Americana influences. His guitar playing has grown alongside his voice, with expressive lead guitar, rhythm work, and improvisation becoming an increasingly prominent part of his live performances.

Versatility is a major part of what Joshua brings to the stage. His extensive repertoire spans recognizable music from the 1960s, '70s, '80s, '90s, and more modern selections, allowing him to shape a performance around the venue, event, and audience. His song catalog crosses classic rock, southern rock, blues, reggae, country, pop, and acoustic favorites, and he can also provide complete genre-focused sets, including reggae and country. His country repertoire leans toward classic and traditional country, while still incorporating familiar southern rock and more contemporary selections when they fit the crowd.

Rather than approaching every performance with the same predetermined set, Joshua enjoys reading the room and adapting the music to the people in it. A performance can move from laid-back acoustic favorites and familiar classics to blues, reggae, country, rock, and more energetic material as the atmosphere changes throughout the evening. This flexibility allows him to provide anything from relaxed background music for dining, cocktail hours, resorts, patios, and private gatherings to an upbeat, guitar-driven show for bars, parties, corporate events, weddings, and other celebrations.

As a solo performer, Joshua combines live vocals, rhythm and lead guitar with professionally produced backing tracks to create the depth and energy of a full-band sound without losing the personal connection and flexibility of a live solo musician. The setup can be tailored to the setting as well—from low-volume performances where conversation and atmosphere are important to a more energetic show designed to engage a lively crowd.
Joshua is available for performances as a solo artist as well as in duo, trio, and full-band configurations, giving venues and event planners the ability to choose the format that best fits their space, audience, and event. He continues to perform throughout the greater Phoenix area while writing, recording, collaborating, and expanding an already diverse catalog of original and live music.
